Most Reverend Prof. J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu
PRESIDING BISHOP, THE METHODIST CHURCH GHANA
Beloved in Christ, distinguished Old Boys, staff, students, and cherished friends of Mfantsipim School, grace and peace from our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. It is with immense joy, gratitude, and a profound sense of history that on behalf of The Methodist Church Ghana, I extend this welcome message as Mfantsipim School, the first secondary school established in Ghana, celebrates 150 years of academic excellence, moral discipline, and transformative leadership. This milestone is not only a testament to the enduring legacy of “The School” but also a reflection of the faithfulness of God who has guided Mfantsipim since its founding in 1876 under the auspices of The Methodist Church Ghana. The Methodist Church Ghana is proud of Mfantsipim School. For a century and a half, the School has stood as a cradle of disciplined scholarship and a beacon of national service. Founded on strong Methodist values, the school has consistently shaped generations of young men who have gone on to provide exemplary leadership in the Church, in governance, in the sciences and humanities, and across the global community. Your influence stretches far beyond the borders of Cape Coast; it permeates the very fabric of our national life. This Mfantsipim@150 Website creates a platform that honours the School’s proud heritage while projecting its vision for the future. It is my hope that this digital space will serve not only as a repository of history but also as an inspiration to current and future “Botwe Boys” who carry the mantle of excellence. May it celebrate the countless individuals, teachers, chaplains, administrators, Old Boys, students, and partners, whose sacrifices and devotion have sustained the school across generations. This anniversary invites us to reflect deeply on our call to mission. Mfantsipim School was established to “raise educated African Christian gentlemen,” and this mandate remains as relevant today as it was in 1876. In a world confronted with moral challenges and shifting values, the school is called anew to nurture young minds who are intellectually alert, spiritually grounded, and socially responsible. On behalf of The Methodist Church Ghana, I congratulate the entire Mfantsipim community as you mark this remarkable milestone. May the next 150 years be filled with renewed strength, greater innovation, and a continued commitment to the values that have shaped this noble institution. May God bless Mfantsipim School, its heritage, its mission, and its future. Dwen Hwe Kan. Most Rev’d Prof. Johnson K. Asamoah-Gyadu Presiding Bishop, The Methodist Church Ghana

The Service will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Education to ensure that Mfantsipim School sustains its leadership in delivering quality education in the country. The school will not be left out of key national reforms in secondary education. That journey has been marked by sacrifice, resilience, and an unyielding commitment to excellence. As we reflect on this remarkable milestone, we must first give thanks to God for His unfailing grace and mercies. To all the teachers who have walked the hills of Mfantsipim, past and present, we owe a debt of gratitude for your devotion to nurturing minds and shaping character. Our vision is clear: to build a world-class alumni fraternity that supports the school’s growth and nurtures future old boys. This future will not build itself. It will take every old boy, near and far, to rally behind one purpose; to give back generously and secure the promise of those who will come after. This is our moment to rise as one MOBA family – united in heritage, bound by faith, and driven by the belief that Mfantsipim’s best days are yet to come. Dwen Hwe Kan
